Practice Consideration
The International Classification of Diseases ICD-11 Terms have been updated to include new terms to describe food allergies. The terms are included in the Food
Hypersensitivity” subsection of the ICD-11 that was published in 2022.
However each country will determine a plan for implementation. For Example Australia is scheduled to have the plan for implementation completed by 2025, with an estimated implementation by 2035. The United States is considering how to create their roadmap for implementation, but there is currently no date for completion of the roadmap or the eventual implementation.
It is likely in the next 10+ years we will have a new nomenclature and terminology to classify "Food Hyperseensitivity"
