Practice Consideration
The Evidence Analysis Librrary includes an EBNPG published in 2009. The scoping review phase is underway and expected to be completed by June 2020.(1) The major recommendations include medical nutrition therapy and screening topics, as well as Nutrition Assessment, potential Nutrition Diagnoses, common nutrition interventions to be considered, and potential monitoring and evaluation indicators.
Nutrition Assessments should include evaluation of nutritional status, food, fluid and nutrient intake, and anthropometric measurements.
Nutritional diagnostic recomendations addresss involuntary weight loss.
Recommendations for Nutrition Intervenetion address the residents involvement in meal planning, diet liberalization, indications for medical food supplements, enteral nutrition, energy needs, eating assistance, dining environment, modified textured diets, evaluation and treatment of depression, and appetite stimulants.
Recommendations for Nutrition Mointoring and Evaluation include consideration of monitor and evaluation of nutritional status, food, fluid and nutrient eintake and anathropometric measures.
